Founding Applied AI Engineer

About the role

Ensue is building coordinated agent swarms for inference and model optimization. As agents scale, coordination, context, and memory become the bottleneck. We're building the infrastructure and application patterns that let agents and AI-powered systems work together safely and productively.

This is day-zero work. You'll be part of the founding team and help define how Ensue's technology is used, adopted, and integrated across real customer needs.

What you'll do

• Partner with product, design, and engineering to turn customer problems into AI-powered solutions.
• Build, demo, and refine customized prototypes that leverage Ensue's memory and context APIs.
• Act as a technical lead in customer engagements — architect solutions and explain them clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Drive decisions on integration patterns, prompt strategies, and system architecture.
• Collaborate with internal teams to bake learnings into product and API improvements.
• Use AI tools daily to accelerate development, testing, and solution design.
• Help define what "applied AI success" means at Ensue and how we measure it.
• Occasionally support field workshops, customer enablement, and onboarding.

What we're looking for

• Strong applied AI intuition and hands-on experience with LLMs or generative systems.
• Experience building real, production-ready integrations, end-to-end.
• Ability to translate complex technical requirements into simple, reliable solutions.
• Excellent communicator who can partner with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Comfortable in ambiguity with a bias toward action and iteration.

Nice to have

• Experience in forward-deployed, solutions, or customer engineering.
• Exposure to large language models in production systems.
• Experience with AI safety, evaluation, or prompting at scale.
• Public technical work or community contributions.

Experience & background

• 5+ years building real software and AI-infused solutions.
• Strong proficiency with at least one major programming language (Python preferred).
• Product sense and customer empathy.
• Track record of delivering technical value in early-stage environments.
